Doctoral Colloquium

Overview

The purpose of the colloquium is to offer graduate students interested in the wearable/mixed and augmented reality fields an opportunity to present their ideas and research plans and get feedback from the community.

Paper Submission

The student colloquium is split into two distinct tracks, pre and post-proposal. The pre-proposal track is oriented towards students in the early stages of a graduate program. The post-proposal track is aimed for students researchers with a more well-defined research topic.

To this end you are invited to submit an abstract of a maximum of 3 pages including all figures and bibliography by 13th August to doctoral07@iswc.net. Please specify the track as either pre- or post-proposal with each submission. Since we aim to foster the presentation of new ideas, including newly starting PhD projects, results of experimental or theoretical evaluation is not a prerequisite. All abstracts will be peer reviewed on the basis of the originality, soundness, and scientific merit of the research goals, the quality of the presentation, and related work. In addition the reviewers will judge whether a plausible plan and appropriate methods are proposed for conducting the planned research.

The student colloquium will take place on the 10th of October (a day before the main conference). Authors of accepted abstracts are to give a presentation of the research ideas and gather feedback from well established researchers in the field. Authors will also be expected to present a poster of their work during demonstration session at ISWC (October 12).

The abstracts will be published in the ISWC extended proceedings that will be distributed during the conference and will be made available to the public electronically.

Funding

Funding for ISWC registration, travel and hotel is available and will be distributed based on need and quality of submission.
